Q – HOW IS THE CAMPAIGN GOING?
A – So far we have raised $2.8 million in cash. We were able to break ground in January on our new Resource Center thanks to HomeAid Colorado and Meritage Homes, who chose Hope House as their 2017 project -- effectively closing the gap in our fundraising campaign! Currently we are working to raise $250,000 for fixtures and furniture for the new facility.
Q – IS THE NUMBER OF TEEN MOMS DECREASING?
A – Some reports state that the number of teen moms is slightly decreasing. However, the fact remains that over 4,000 babies are born to teen moms every year in Colorado – and that 67% of them live below the poverty line. Therefore, because we are the only organization in the Denver-metro area offering free Residential, GED, and College & Career Support programs, Hope House continues to face an increasing demand for services for teen moms and their kids – a demand that we cannot meet in our existing facilities.
Q – ARE THERE DIFFERENT WAYS TO GIVE AND ARE GIFTS TAX DEDUCTIBLE?
A – The most common ways to give are:
CASH GIFTS & PLEDGES – These options are payable over 3 or 5 years and are tax deductible. Please consult with your tax/financial advisor and a member of the Hope House Capital Campaign team for additional information.
GIFTS OF STOCK – The most popular gifts are those funded with publicly held stocks and bonds that have been held for a period of time. Q – WHO IS RUNNING THE CAMPAIGN?
A – Hope House’s Capital Campaign is chaired by Board Member Patty Disney; Bryon White of Milender White Construction Co. is the Chair of the Building Committee; and Board President Mindy Brown is the Board Liaison. Members of the Board of Directors as well as volunteers from the Hope House community are assisting. Q – WHAT ABOUT YOUR ANNUAL OPERATING FUND AND FUNDRAISING EVENTS?
A - Our annual operating fund will continue to support our current programs. Annual events such as our Gala and Golf Tournament will continue to support the annual operating fund and specific program budgets. Events that our Hope House champions hold for us as well as our monthly Bedrock Builder gifts will also continue to fund the annual fund, and our three annual appeal letters will continue to support our on-going program budgets. Church gifts, gift cards, corporate matching gifts, and Colorado Gives Day will also continue to fund our $1,400,000 2017 annual budget.
Capital Campaign gifts will go toward the building of our new Resource Center. We will also apply for Capital Campaign grants as well as donations from our existing grantors and foundations. We are asking our current champions to support this expansion of our teen mom programs in addition to their regular annual fund gifts so that we can increase the number of teen moms and children we serve.
Q - HOW CAN I HELP?
A- There are many ways to get involved with Hope House. For example, join the Captial Campaign Committee or the Building Committee, host your own fundraiser for our Captial Campaign, spread the word to your friends and connections, or organize a group to provide volunteer building labor.
